(PAST Minutes): January 2006 | October 2005 | September 2005 | May, 2005 | April, 2005The meeting was called to order by Vice-President, Margaret Punches, at 7:05 pm at Farr Center. The minutes from the January meeting were APPROVED as mailed. The Treasurer’s Report showed balances of: Checking--$4,919.40; Savings--$1,824.77; General CD--$5,000.00; Lighthouse CD--$5,339.44. The report was APPROVED as presented. Those present were: Nancy and Dan Behring, Linda and Frank English, Mary and Chuck Reed, Lynise Hensel, Margaret Punches, Jim Simons, Paul Mueller, Judy Blackmore, Dave Combs, Dave Yarnell and Megan Kempf.
BUDGETDave Combs presented the proposed budget for 2006. After some discussion, the budget was APPROVED as presented.
PETUNIA PARADE--All is progressing on schedule. Donation envelopes will be sent in the April mailing.
CALENDARDave Combs, Paul Mueller and Judy Blackmore will meet on Friday, March 3rd to select pictures and do the set up for the 18-month calendar. The calendar should be on sale by the Fundraiser on June 24th.
STORY OF PORTAGEWe have 235 books ready for sale. If you didn’t get one last time or need a small gift for somebody, they are available at several businesses for $8.00.
FUNDRAISERNancy and Dan Behring and Lynise Hensel presented their Portage Lake Associationns for the decorations to be used for the New York, New York theme“The Way You Wear Your Hat.” The fundraiser is Saturday, June 24th. Mark your calendar.
CONCERTS in the PARKMargaret Punches went through a partial list of performers she has contacted for the Monday-night programs. A complete list, and dates, will be forthcoming.

*Clio Club wishes to donate 2 small trees to be added to our Celebration of Lights disPortage Lake Associationy. All were in favor. The Clio Club will check with the Village for permission.
*Pancake breakfast to help fund the fireworks. Sunday, March 19th.
*Megan Kempf of McKeough Land Company, Inc. (developing Portage Ridge) introduced herself and discussed what is happening with the development of Portage Ridge.
*Fireworks will be Friday August 4th during Onekama Days. (August 3rd-6th)
*Portage Lake is experiencing the growth of undesirable weeds. Mike Acton asked that we have someone represent the Portage Lake Association at the next Parks and Rec. meeting to support a request for additional water testing. Frank English MOVED we have somebody go to the meeting as our representative. APPROVED. Paul Mueller will do this.
*Dan Behring brought up the possibility of getting the Village to purchase the land next to Sunset Park (at the junction of 8-Mile and M22) to preserve the wet land. He will present this idea at the Village meeting and the Parks and Rec. meeting. It is possible to get matching grant money from Great Lakes Trust.
Meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm. Next meeting: Wednesday, April 5, 2006. Farr Center 7:00 p.m.
