The meeting was called to order by our Vice-President, Margaret Punches. Those in attendance were Beverly Bauer, Jim Simons, Judy Blackmore, Chuck Reed, Michael Acton, George and Margaret Punches, Dave Combs, Bob Wendt, Barbara Wolverton, Susan Halloran, Frank and Linda English, Paul Mueller, and Alice Hendricks.

The minutes were presented and were accepted as published. Motion was made by Dave and seconded by Chuck.

The Treasurer’s report was accepted as presented. Motion by Jim, Second by Chuck. The renewal of CD’s was discussed and a motion was made by Frank to renew them for 6 months and was seconded by Paul.

Mike Acton presented an update on the Watershed Project. He reported on the focus group meetings and their importance as well as the preliminary results of those meetings. Phone surveys are to be taken at the end of June so they will include our summer people. Public meetings are to be held at the end of May and June. Funding for the development of the plan, which is to be both state and federally certified, is in place. Future funds will go into an endowment fund.

Mike also presented the “Fish out of Water” fundraiser. 12 fish have been assigned to various artists. There will be an event, up on the hill where the old hospital was, which will be catered by the Glenwood, on July 28. The artists will have finished their design of the fish by that time and the fish will be auctioned. Funds will go to the endowment fund. If a business wishes to sponsor a fish they may do so and will then have the fish displayed in front of their store until the fundraiser.

Jim Simons moved that the PLA and the Lion’s partner in sharing the sponsorship of one fish. The cost will be $1200.00. The motion passed.

Bob Wendt reported on the municipal marina plans. There is a question about funding. The DEQ plans were approved, but subject to a political review. We should hear more within two months.

The village was invited to write an article for the next newsletter. The possibility of putting various newsletters on the website was discussed.

Margaret reported that the Concerts in the Park are going to be in the calendar in Traverse Magazine.

Joe Skiera is working on the Petunia Beds now and planting is scheduled for May 21. Plants are to be multi-colored this year.

Bob was officially invited to be bartender at the fundraiser and he accepted the job.

This year’s fireworks have been purchased. The last fundraising breakfast raised $700.00. There will be one more on May 27. Fireworks are scheduled to be on Aug 3, which is Friday night of Onekama Days. Rain date is the 4th.

Fund Raiser: Solicitation schedules were passed out by Jim. They must be in by June 1st. National City is providing the credit card machine. Ad sales are progressing. We agreed to make a contribution in recognition of the Car Club if their members bring their cars to the event. Next meeting of the fundraiser committee is on May 22 at the Alpine.

Dave said there is a fundraiser to benefit a local family whose home burned. It will be a pasta dinner, catered by the Blue Slipper, on May 23.

Dave requested permission to put up two street banners about Onekama Days when we put out other banners up. Frank moved we do so and Barb seconded the motion. Passed.

A motion to adjourn was made by Bev and seconded by Dave.
