1. WASTEWATER COLLECTION
Notice of Intent to Apply to USDA Rural Development, Utilities Program (RDUP)

Onekama Township Wastewater Collection System

Onekama Township intends to apply for a grant/loan through the Rural Development office of the United States Department of Agriculture for the purposes of constructing improvements to its wastewater collection system. The project will include construction of approximately 82,000 feet of low-pressure sewer main, 434 services with grinder pumps, and improvements to the Village of Onekama WWTP.

The project area consists of portions of the Onekama Township, surrounding Portage Lake from the Village of Onekama limits to Lake Michigan. The Township plans on completing the construction of this project during the 2011 and 2012 construction seasons.

The application package is available for review during normal business hours at Onekama Township located at 5435 Main St. Persons wishing to submit written comments on this application may do so for a period of ten (10) days from the date of this notice. Comments must be directed to Onekama Township, P. O. Box 458, Onekama, Michigan, 49675.


2. RECYCLING:
Recycling bins (cans, plastic, glass, cardboard & paper) are now in Onekama township parking lot for your convenience. Please recycle responsibly ........ no styrofoam or garbage. IF THIS SERVICE IS ABUSED, IT WILL BE DISCONTINUED.

3. AUXILIARY AIDS/SERVICES
Onekama Township will provide necessary and reasonable auxiliary aids and services. Onekama Township requires two weeks notice of the need for such aids. NOTE: Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact the Onekama Township Clerk.

BURNING PERMITS:
Burning permits issued by calling the DEQ at 866-922-2876 When calling for burning permits, you are in Twp. 23 N. and Range 16 W and you will need your section number.

 

ATTENTION ONEKAMA RESIDENTS

You are asked and encouraged to please fill out the Census 2010 form you received in the mail. It is crucial that township residents are all counted. An accurate count of the local population helps to ensure that the township receive its fair share of federal funding. This funding includes resources for services, such as health care, education and roads.

So far, only 39 percent of the Onekama Township residents have returned their form. It only takes 10 minutes to answer the 10 questions. Completing the 2010 Census form will shape the future for you, your community and the country.
