Water hazards come into play on a few holes, and sand bunkers have been incorporated throughout the entire course. Half of the fairways are tree lined, while the other half are wide open. The greens vary in size and undulation, as do the fairways. The signature hole is #6, a 401-yard, par 4, requiring shots past the scenic wetlands in order to reach the green.

Manistee Golf & Country Club
500 Cherry Road
Manistee MI 49660
This course requires a wide variety of shots from a wide variety of lies, including uphill, downhill, and sidehill, since the fairways are sloped. The greens are very fast because there is a constant wind that dries them out and affects play. Several holes were built alongside the banks of Lake Michigan. Bruce Matthews designed the back nine, which opened in 1930, and he redesigned the original holes during the same period.
Manistee National Golf & Resort
4797 US 31 South
Manistee MI 49660
Canthooke Valley & Cutter's Ridge
Get ready to play fabulous traditional-style golf on our Canthooke Valley Course. The rolling fairways here are planted in Kentucky bluegrass that sets your ball up high for easy contact. The layout, done by Michigan architect Gary Pulsipher in 1993, meanders through hardwoods and a white pine forest.
One of the great things about our Cutters’ Ridge Course is how its personality differs from that of Canthooke Valley, giving you, the golfer, a chance for yet another very out-of-the-ordinary round of 18. The variety will amaze you. While Canthooke lies on sandy soil, Cutters’ Ridge has a more clay-like soil. The fairways as well as the greens at Cutters’ Ridge are paved with bentgrass. While Cutters’ Ridge also has stunning trees, its major distinctions are the marsh and wetlands on this site.
