Jones & The Benzie Playboys are bringing the roots sound of southwest Louisiana’s Creole, Cajun, and Zydeco scene to ya’ll up here in the Great Lakes area. The band is dedicated to keeping Cajun/Creole music alive with live performances for two-steppin’, waltzing, and smoking red hot zydeco dancing. Cajun and creole are common in many of the band’s tunes, sung in the tradition of Amede Ardoin, Bois Sec, Canray Fontenot, Boozoo Chavis, John Delafose, the Balfa Brothers, Iry LeJune, Dennis McGee and many others. The magic accordion of K.Jones is the driving force of the band’s music, with Jonah Powell on fiddle, Doug Albright on bass, and Mark Stoltz on the scrubboard and tit’fer driving the beat. JUNE 30 - SCHROCK BROTHERS - The Schrock Brothers Band, feat Peter Madcat Ruth – June 30, 2025 The Schrock Bros Band is fronted by brothers and singers Jasen & Andrew (on acoustic guitar and bass respectively), with 'Papa' Mark Schrock on electric guitar & vocals. They peddle their own brand of high energy original & traditional Americana/soul/blues, focusing on soulful lead singing and tight three part family harmony. For this year's Onekama performance they bring together old friends and fan favorites Peter Madcat Ruth on harmonica and percussion savant Michael Shimmin on drums. The band always looks forward to sharing their music with the Onekama area friends and neighbors! Find their album 'Faith in Love' on anywhere music is streamed online. JULY 7 - BETTY B. & THE ROPEWALKERS - Betty B. and The RopeWalkers are a dynamic band bringing the sounds of Swing, Early R&B, and Vintage Rock ‘N’ Roll to the heart of Michigan and beyond. With a lineup of seasoned musicians, each with deep roots in the local music scene, the band crafts a high-energy performance that transports audiences to a bygone era of classic rhythm and blues. Whether it’s the smooth swing of a jazzy brass section, the infectious groove of early rock, or the soulful spirit of R&B, Betty B. and The RopeWalkers offer an unforgettable experience. Playing venues across Michigan, they continue to captivate audiences with their timeless sound and lively stage presence. JULY 14 - ALL ABOUT BUFFETT - Traverse City’s talented and versatile Doc Probes brings Jimmy Buffett’s music to Onekama. Happy beach music is the perfect way to liven up the summer, and Doc's smooth voice captures Jimmy Buffett's style perfectly. Either as a solo show or with the RipTide band, all the classic Buffett songs are featured, plus some of the lesser known gems that demonstrate Jimmy's songwriting artistry. Take a little trip to Margaritaville. and don't worry, be happy! JULY 21 - FIFTH GEAR - A rock band based out of Traverse City, having formed in early 2016. They have been performing at local public and private events since mid 2016. The band is well seasoned to the Northern Michigan music scene, as are its members. Fifth Gear is comprised of former members of some of the area’s great bands including: Onager, Soulkast, Hogshot and Rumor. Although the band has a Rock Genera core with a focus on current music, their play list is diverse with crossover music touching on Pop, Blues, Country Western, and Classic Rock -and spanning from the 60’s to today. With four vocalists, each with their own unique tone, and their diverse instrumental talents, they perform music which few, if any, other area bands can. Their play list can bounce between songs with deep harmonies, to driving rock anthems, and everything in between. Their well-crafted and diverse play list gives Fifth Gear the ability to inspire audiences with diverse demographics. JULY 28 - JIM HAWLEY - Jim Hawley is a Traverse City, Michigan-based musician whose soulful voice and poignant songwriting have captivated audiences all over the country for decades. Blending folk, rock, country, and timeless standards, his music reflects a life shaped by diverse experiences—from a nomadic childhood spanning Southern California, the Northeast, and Miami, to his service in the U.S. Navy, all of which fueled his drive to perform professionally on iconic stages nationwide. Jim sings with the "passion of the heart", and he brings joy to all who experience his "one of a kind" performance! AUGUST 4 - ACOUSTIC MADNESS - Unplugged Fun With A Twist! Acoustic Madness is a versatile 3 piece band that plays in the course of an evening anything from classic rock, pop, jazz, bluegrass & reggae. True to form, Acoustic Madness likes to play with lyrical and musically unorthodox concepts. They are rooted in Americana (blues, rock, bluegrass, country), but add structural and progressive elements to what they do that expands the genre. For instance, “Change the Way You Change” sounds like early Radiohead, with its subtle use of special effects and textures. “Loose Lips” harbors 10cc, Beatlesque and Badfinger-type whimsy, with a Tin Pan Alley sensibility. “Well It’s Alright” is an exciting mix of blues, country, trance and jam band. Although they have a strong visual presence, their focus is clearly on crafting unique and original songs designed to connect with true music fans. AUGUST 11 - JAKE SLATER - Get ready to shake, Rattle and Roll! Experience the magic of the King with Jake slater, an Elvis tribute artist who captures the voice, the moves, and the charisma of the one and only Elvis Presley. Don't miss the unforgettable performance of classic hits through the years with high energy and a whole lotta love!
